Madison Area Pick Your Own Fruit and Vegetable Farms
Here in Wisconsin we love to pick our own fruit, especially strawberries! This is a list of farms in the Madison area that allows people to come and pick their own fruit or vegetables. The advantage is that you know who picked your fruit and you can do it for a cheaper price than what can be found in the grocery store.
- The Appleberry Farm
pre-picked and pick-your-own tomatoes, pumpkins, raspberries, strawberries and apples, cider, hayrides
8079 Maurer Road, Cross Plains, WI. Phone: 608-798-2780. Come visit the Sheep, feed the Chickens and sit by the Duck pond. Enjoy a Hayride or walk through the Orchard and explore our oak savanna with beautiful views towards Blue Mounds.
- The Berry Farmer, Inc.
We offer U-pick and pre-picked strawberries and peas. Our hours of operation are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and Sat-Sun 8am-5pm. Call the Berry Hotline for picking information, (608) 355-1965. From Madison, take Hwy 12 north to Baraboo. Turn left on Cty W by the Super Wal-Mart. Travel west 2 miles and turn right on Hoot Owl Valley Rd. We are 1/4 mile farther on the right. Our season runs early June to early July. Picking containers provided.
- Blue Skies Berry Farm
We offer certified organic raspberries, heirloom vegetables, edible flowers and herbs. U-pick raspberries from mid-August to late September on Sunday mornings in season, and by calling ahead for weekdays and evenings. Pre-picked available, too. We’re on a quiet country road. Families are welcome. We are 16 miles south of the Beltline via Hwy 14, toward Evansville; turn right at Union (at tavern) onto West Union Rd., then left onto Crocker Rd.
- Carandale Farm
Our featured fruit is strawberries for U-pick and pre-picked. We also have Concord grapes, raspberries, pears, cherries, and will be offering some unusual fruit from our sustainable test plot. We are located 8 1/2 miles south of the Beltline at the south end of Fish Hatchery Rd.
- Country Bumpkin Farm Market
Come to “our farm” to enjoy fresh, pre-picked garden produce, walk our gardens, or browse our gift shop and greenhouses. Many different homegrown berries, fruits, vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, plus our own jumbo flower baskets! You may experience the farm with U-pick also! Open daily, 10am–6pm, May 1–Oct 31. Located on Hwy 23 (exit 89) only 1 mile west of the Lake Delton-Wisconsin Dells Home Depot and Super Wal-Mart on Hwy P.
- Door Creek Orchard
U-pick and pre-picked apples (70 bearing varieties) are offered as well as U-pick table and wine grapes, fall raspberries and pumpkins. Fresh, unpasteurized apple cider is pressed weekly. Naturally colored yarn from our Black Welsh Mountain Sheep and Lincolns is now available. Season: mid-August to late November. Directions: From Madison take Hwy 12/18 east 3 miles past I-90, turn right on Vilas Rd. and go 1/2 mile.
- Eplegaarden, LLC
An old-fashioned farm where families, kids of all ages, and adults have fun while selv plukking their own apples, raspberries and pumpkins, enjoying hayrides, and seeing animals up close. WI Sesquicentennial Barn, tours, Billy Goat Gruff family, picnics, 100 varieties of apples and 15 acres of pumpkins – plukked or selv plukked. 4 miles south of Madison beltline (Hwy 12/18) on Seminole Hwy in city of Fitchburg.

- Green’s Pleasant Springs Orchard
We grow 65 varieties of apples, tomatoes, specialty lettuces, sweet corn and pumpkins. We offer U-pick and pre-picked apples. We do not pre-bag apples. The customers pick out each apple they want. Fresh unpasteurized cider is pressed each week in season. For 29 years we have grown quality fruits and vegetables with food safety and the environment in mind. We offer our products at the orchard, the Dane County Farmers’ Market, and the Westside Community Market in Madison. 1.5 miles from the I-90 and Hwy N interchange. From I-90, south on Hwy N, right turn on Koshkonong Rd., right turn on Williams Dr.
- Hazeltines Strawberries
Hazeltines Strawberries, located 6 miles west of Janesville on State Rd. 11, has been in the strawberry business for over 25 years. As a family-run business, Hazeltines offers 15 acres of high-quality strawberries, both U-pick and pre-picked. For more information or picking conditions, call the farm directly at (608) 876-6161. Driving directions from Madison: Hwy 14 south, 28 miles. Turn right (south) at Hwy H, continue about 5 miles. Turn right onto Hwy 11 for 1/2 mile. Hazeltines will be on the right (north) side.
- JenEhr Family Farm
6837 Elder Lane, Sun Prairie, WI, 53590. Phone: 608-825-9531. Open: U-pick Friday & Sunday from 9AM - 5PM. Certified Organic-safe & fun picking for family members of all ages & sizes. Beginning June 24th 2005, Friday, we will offer U-Pick berries here at the farm. Prices are $2 per lb for those you pick and $3 per pound in 10lb flats for those we pick and have ready waiting for you. U-Pick only on Friday and Sunday from 9AM to 5PM , but please please please Phone: ahead (just before you leave home) to make sure we haven't picked out for the day or inclement weather closes the patch.
- Kirschbaum’s Strawberry Acres, LLC
Kirschbaum’s Strawberry Acres is located between Columbus and Beaver Dam on Hwy 151, approximately 20 minutes north of Madison. U-pick and pre-picked strawberries are available and the season runs from mid-June through the first part of July.
- Mitchell Vineyard
1931 Monroe St., Madison, WI 53711 - The vineyard operates as a pick-your-own vineyard, though grapes will be picked for customers with a week’s advance notice. In 2002 harvest began on Sep 7 and ended October 12. Prices for the various grapes in Fall 2002 were: Foch, Millot .60-.75/lb. (prices vary with amts), Frontenac .65-.80/lb, Concord .55-.70/lb. Picking Times: Tues 1-6 PM Saturday 11-4 Sunday 12-4, In October Tues 1-5:30 PM Saturday 11-4 Sunday 12-4. Offering U-pick vegetables since 1973. Diversity is our specialty. Choose from about 190 different varieties of 40 kinds of vegetables – including ethnic and specialty vegetables – flowers, herbs, pumpkins, gourds, ornamental corn and popcorn.
