1996

  • Independent research project: A test of the strength of the pair-bond in the rainbow cichlid, Herotilapia multispinosa (unpublished), with Dr. Jeffrey Baylis, Department of Zoology UW-Madison.

1997

  • Volunteer on a research project, about forced-pair copulation in mallard ducks. Helped build experimental set-up, and helped perform base-line observations, with Graduate Student Ellen Davis, Department of Psychology UW-Madison.

1999

  • Intern for Birds without Borders-Aves Sin Fronteras. Assisted in nest searching in a coniferous bog for both passerine and nonpasserine birds. Assisted with fall banding. Contributed to the writing of the nest searching report, with Jane Hartwig, site Supervisor. Go here for pictures and information about the birds.
  • Volunteer for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I assisted in capturing and taking measurements of lake sturgeon and paddlefish in the Wisconsin River. I also assisted in fin-clipping of walleye at a hatchery.
